Green Screen With the Braves
Braves have finally made it to the World Series! If you’ve been watching, you’ve no doubt seen some of my work for the broadcast. We did some green screen work with the Braves earlier this month for some augmented reality. Pretty much our footage of the player on the green screen would appear next to someone in the studio. So instead of just a picture, or a small video of them in a box, it would be the player, life size, walking around.
The set up was a whole to-do. Lots and lots of green, tons of light, and flipping the camera vertical. Took up about 2.5 hr to set everything up. Had to make sure lighting was even for the entire walk, and the player in focus. I didn’t trust the mount I bought to flip the camera initially, but it actually worked great and my rig didn’t fall and smash into 1000 pieces.
Once we were set up, we hurry up and waited. I ate a pb&j that, according to Kyle, was a bad make because the pb wasn’t oozing out the sides. I didn’t want to get condiments all over the place so I made it modestly before the shoot, BUT apparently, you just gotta go for it.
The players came in and we directed them for about 5 min each.
“Walk this way. Walk this way again, but different. Swing the bat a little. Whoa! Too much swing my guy, just a tad less.”
Once we were done, they went back to their lives and we tore down the set and loaded out. Overall had a good time here, made some new friends, and re-met people I already knew (I blame the masks).
